I received this booklight a few weeks ago. I read reviews and specs to no end for months before picking this one, just to find out I wouldn't receive it for 3 months but I decided it was worth it. As promised it showed up just around the 3 month mark. When I pulled it out of its packaging and case I realized this thing was massive! Oh my goodness, my little notepads couldn't hold the weight of it nor balance the bulk of it if I fed them steroids first! This is not necessarily a bad thing for using with a hardback book. The clip is nice and strong giving me no worries as to the longevity of its life. The light switch is in no way flimsy, nor does it require any "finger strength" to toggle. It felt firm in its place and took, what I thought to be a simple, fluid movement of the tip of my finger to get it going. The neck was easy to adjust and could be clipped to the handle of the door in our car; since it is too heavy and awkward to use on my notepad causing them to bend backwards with the weight.
The problems I had were with:
No. 1: the brightness of all things! This thing lit up our room like a small night stand lamp! I could not get it angled anywhere that made it useable when my husband was trying to sleep. He tried his sleep mask that he uses when he is on night shifts and because the light was nearly level with his face, it snuck under the mask.
No. 2: still too bright in the car, creates reflections on the windshield making it difficult for the driver to see.
No. 3: after less than 2 hours of use; well fiddling really, it died. Completely and without apology, it died on me. It may have been the bulb, but who knows; I couldn't find how to get it out nor where to get a replacement!! I changed the batteries, plugged in the included wall adapter. Nothing. Requested an exchange but learned they are out of stock and don't know when they will get more in!
If you get one with a good bulb and want a full, night table lamp worthy light, this is definitely it. It felt like it would hold up forever! If you have someone next to you in bed or read lighter weight books you might want to pass on this one.

This unit doesnt really light up much more than half a page, this might be more suitable for paperbacks but does not provide adequate lighting for bigger text books. The large switch on the product can also be a pain because it requires a bit of finger strength to flick on. This energy powering on or off the light can easily dismount or slide the light out of it's holding position (if not screwed into place) and cause you to have to readjust the light after switching it on or off just about every time.

I really like this booklight. It is so convenient because it has an adapter that plugs in or runs off batteries. The light is very bright. It has a flexible arm that is long enought to adjust however you want it and fits nicely into the carrying case, handy. I have been using it for a while and it has not dimmed yet like most others.
The only down side is the weight of it. But the clip on seems to stabilize it okay.

I purchased this based on the reviews but was very disappointed. After the first week, it wouldn't hold a charge and the lamp would only light up about a quarter of the way. I don't know if mine was just uniquely defective, but it will only work while plugged in (and the lamp won't light all the way across.)
My husband gave me the Brookstone rechargeable LED book light when this one stopped working and its been wonderful. It lasts over 10 hours on one charge (several nights of reading) and it has worked perfectly for almost a year, so i would recommend that one over this (even though the price may be lower, this light isn't a bargain if it doesn't last more than a week.)
